We want to live in South Africa. We want our children to live here, too. That is only possible if our country is safe for everyone.
Safety is more than law and order. It means every citizen can get an education, find a job, raise a family, and pursue happiness without fear of prejudice, violence, or corruption.
A safe South Africa provides a safety net for the vulnerable, delivers basic services like schools and healthcare, and tackles wealth inequality through effective empowerment. It is a country where roads are maintained, public transport is reliable, water runs, and sanitation works.
Most importantly, a safe South Africa is one where economic growth outpaces population growth. This gives everyone a fair shot at economic freedom.
Our vision is a South Africa where all people feel secure, valued, and free to build a better life. We work to help government achieve this, so South Africa can remain home for us and our children.
Lasting progress depends on two things: growing the economy and reducing inequality. You cannot solve one without the other. Economic growth is unsustainable if inequality rises, and inequality cannot be tackled without growth. Economic freedom is the foundation for all freedom.
Kululeko was founded to address these challenges. The name comes from Nkululeko, the Zulu word for freedom. South Africa's struggles—crime, inequality, migration, and transformation—are shared by many countries.
Our approach is straightforward: develop practical, evidence-based solutions that drive real change.
We submitted a policy proposal, BEE3, that promotes both growth and transformation. In South Africa, these aren't just nice-to-haves; they're political necessities.
It gained traction. BEE3 is now being seriously considered by the Department of Trade, Industry & Competition as a funding mechanism for the national Transformation Fund.
That early success made us think, maybe there's more we can contribute. We created Kululeko, the Institute for Economic Freedom, to drive ideas like these.
The name comes from Nkululeko, the Zulu word for freedom. We believe economic freedom is the foundation for all freedom.
Our flagship project, BEE3, offers a practical and fair policy proposal designed to promote both economic growth and transformation in South Africa. It's a testament to our commitment to finding workable solutions to complex challenges.
